Austin Combs

Austin Combs – 18 –
Autism, Kleefstra syndrome, Intellectual disability

Austin is one of the nicest, easy-going kids around. He’s kind, funny, sweet, loving, has a contagious laugh and is a great buddy to everyone he meets.

Several years ago, Austin was diagnosed with Kleefstra syndrome. This diagnosis resulted in drop seizures up to 30+ times a day.For his safety, he had to wear a helmet and eventually confined to a wheelchair. In 2013, he underwent successful brain surgery to stop the drop seizures. He has very few seizures now, that are much less severe in nature.

Since then,Austin has had to bravely re-learn many skills. Now he’s mostly seizure-free. Walking, talking, and thinking on his own and back to his pre-diagnosis self!
