Chance Wunderle
This 6-year-old boy from Imperial is a cover model. Chance was featured on the cover of SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation’s Glennon magazine with St. Louis Cardinal great Matt Holliday. The two were pictured comparing their muscles. Chance is a strong young man who is living with the childhood cancer known as rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare malignant tumor involving muscle tissue.
His diagnosis was made in 2014 when a six-inch lump on his thigh stretching nearly from hip to knee was discovered. He has undergone surgery to remove the tumor, 20 radiation treatments and extensive chemotherapy treatments. He somehow maintains his energetic and brave demeanor. Chance makes friends everywhere he goes and his personality draws in doctors and especially nurses.
Chance loves hockey and was recently granted the wish of becoming a Super Ninja thanks to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Chance “shows” his muscle every day.
