Shortly after she was born, Emily was diagnosed with a heart defect and had open-heart surgery and a complete AV canal repair.She wears glasses and hearing aids, has mild to moderate hearing loss in low tones in both ears, and has Down syndrome.
Emily loves to read books and ride her therapy horse at Helping Hands and Horses. She hopes to one day work at Culvers, just like her big sister, Elise. Emily also enjoys riding her bike and going to the park to pretend she’s on American Ninja Warrior. She’s a very determined girl who counts her sister Lily and her “typical functioning” friend Molly from school as her best friends.
