Olivia Curtis – 9 – Chromosome 17 Deletian

Olivia is a 9-year-old girl who has both developmental delays and health concerns which affect her progress in all areas.  Olivia is a creative, fun loving girl who is kind and considerate, always making sure her younger sister is included in her life and activities as much as possible. She has always made progress in the following areas since receiving support through Sunnyhill.  Olivia has increased her independent living skills.  She is advocating for herself more and went from struggling in math, to memorizing her multiplication facts and now reports math is her favorite subject. Her creative thinking and language skills have also increased and she regularly requests to play language-based games; she has struggled in the area of language arts at school.   Her socialization skills have also increased at home and in the community.  She has been working on self-calming skills and has reduced the frequency of her behaviors and emotional outbursts.

Olivia has developmental delays and chromosome17 deletion, which affects her progress in all areas. But she doesn’t let that stop her from living her life as a creative, fun-loving girl. She’s kind and considerate, and always makes sure her younger sister is included in her life and activities.

Through support Olivia has received from Sunnyhill, she has increased her independent living skills, advocates for herself more,and improved her math skills so much she says it’s her favorite subject. She’s also increased her creative thinking and language skills and enjoys playing language-based games. Olivia loves unicorns and adores her dog Piper. 

Olivia’s social skills have also improved both at home and in the community. She’s currently working on self-calming skills and has reduced the frequency of her behaviors and outbursts.
